The Accreditation of Universities and Medical Schools in Panama is a system that includes different official sections of the Panamanian Government.

REPUBLIC OF PANAMA

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

                                   EXECUTIVE DECREE 432

(of 25 June 2010)

 

“WHICH GRANTS OPERATING AUTORIZATION TO A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY BY THE NAME OF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS).

 

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC

exercising his constitutional and legal powers,

 

CONSIDERING:

 That the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS), presented Resolutions 51-09-SGP. 14-09-SGP, 13-09-SGP, 42-09-SGP, issued by the Academic Council of the University of Panama, “approving” the plans and study programs for Doctor in Medicine and Surgery, Masters in Business Administration with a Specialty in Health Management, Masters in Business Administration and a Specialization in Thanatology;

That instruction will be performed by qualified personnel, that will be required to meet as a minimum the standards established in the statutes of the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS);

That the promotion of academic degrees and the issuance of professional titles of the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS), will be carried out in accordance with the requirements established in the university’s statutes;

That the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS) will operate with its own resources and will provide infrastructure and facilities that will offer the physical, technical and technological conditions needed to teach appropriately;

That on 22 March 2010, the National Council of Assessment and Accreditation for Higher Education of the Republic of Panama, upon favorable recommendation from the Technical Regulations Commission, granted the Favorable Technical Report for the creation and operation of the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS);

That Law 30 of the 20th of July of 2006, establishes in Article 33 that:  “The Executive Body, having received favorable technical Report from the National Council of Assessment and Accreditation for Higher Education of the Republic of Panama, through the Ministry of Education, will grant universities the authorization to operate temporarily, for a period of six (6) years, based on favorable report from the Technical Regulations Commission;

That the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS), complies with the requirements established in Law 30 of 20 July 2006, by which the National System of Assessment and Evaluation for the Improvement of Quality in Higher Education was established;

That it is the State’s obligation, through the Ministry of Education, to service national education intellectually, morally, civically and physically; in addition to setting the foundations and granting operating authorizations relative to the recognition of academic and professional titles;

 

DECREES:

 Article 1:  To authorize the private university named INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS) provisional operation, for six (6) years under the company name of INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS), recorded in the Public Register in File 507859, Document 865102.   

Article 2:  To recognize the professional undergraduate and postgraduate titles issued by the University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS), that have been evaluated and approved by the Technical Regulations Commission.

Article 3:  The University INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (ISMS) will be able to request a tax exemption, as well as mail and telegraph rates in the Republic of Panama.

Article 4:  This Executive Order shall be in effect upon its promulgation in the Official Gazette.
